Twilight

Yeah, the rumours are true, I read twilight. Of course, I’m going to do what I’m best at, criticise it.

The character of Bella is possibly the worst character in well anything. She has to be the most miserable character in any book I’ve ever read, here’s just a few quotes from the book:

“It was nice to be alone, not to have a smile and look pleased”
“Forks was literally my own personal hell on earth”
“‘Ew.’ Snow. There went my good day”
“Clearly today was going to be nightmarish”
“I jumped up to look outside, and then groaned in horror”

That’s lovely Bella. And seriously Meyer, stop with the constant descriptions  of Edward and get on with the story. Twilight isn’t even a long book but it still manages to be full of, well, nothing. It’s a shame, when the story gets going (that’s about a third into the book) it’s actually quite good. Yet, the characters that were built up forever aren’t mentioned again (well until the very end), so why bother?

On the other hand, a bit of me actually loved it, which is why I’ve started reading New Moon. God dammit.

Yeah I get it, I’ve not been myself. Well maybe I have, and you haven’t noticed. Whatever.

I entered 2010 with optimism, something I rarely do, being an awesome realist. Once again, optimism has let me down, giving me the biggest heap of fail ever in the past 2 months. The weather has been terrible and school has been lame. Alas, March will be awesome, I have a good feeling about March. Why? I’m not too sure, incredibly enough we’ve only got 3 weeks left until a 2 week holiday, early easter ftw?

That was a weird tangent? For those who are proper Chris fans you’ll know my days as a ‘Uni Blogger’ are numbered, in a few weeks (hopefully), I’ll be leading a new website, the school magazine’s site. With potentially 11 other bloggers by my side, it should be awesome. Don’t fret, I’ll still be on theTechLife.

Yet for some reason, I still want to stay on YouTube which I why I want you guys to help. Where should I go from here?

Blog raped? Really?

Well, on with the show, you’re in for a lovely little Classic Blog. It’s been like forever since I last did one.

So I hear you cry ‘How’s Life Chris? It’s been ages since we last talked’ Yes, yes it has, let’s catch up.

I’ll start off as way back as I can, throwing you into 2009 New Year, which in my case, was an epic fail, being the ever positive guy I am, I didn’t take it as a bad start to a year but a bad end to the last, I’m optimistic of 2010. After messing around for months, me and the guys decided to finally get going with 24 Day Two Finale, if any of you missed it here it is:

Once more, it’s a heap of fail, but this time round it’s the last one.

Anyway, I’ve also got myself involved in the School Magazine ‘Voice’, which perhaps even more exciting for you guys will make me a blogger on a new site, but that’s not all, I’ll be alongside 11 other guys, 1 of them blogging frequently. Serious ‘hurrah’ right there. I’ll let you know how it all goes, fingers crossed for even more lovely Chris action.

Time to tell the story of how I killed a mouse, yesterday.
During an epic little session on ‘Mass Effect 2′ My mum called me from downstairs “Mouse!” usually this meant the cat had brought in a dead mouse and I had to clear it up, I was fine with that of course. “It’s still alive” Hmm, probably being slightly naive I expected the cat to be mauling it in the middle of the room. I glanced down at her bed, fast asleep, what the hell?! “It’s behind there” Mother said, arming herself with a book, I did the same. The Mouse had put itself in the corner behind our telly, which mean we couldn’t get a clear shot on it. The thing was tiny, and extremely fast. After a few attempts we had to try a new method. Just like the films, I grabbed some bait, a nut. Yeah that didn’t work. We pondered for a minute or so, Fly Spray?

Why Fly Spray you ask? Well, it can kill flies and let’s face it if you were sprayed in the eyes with it, you’re not going to be impressed. I decided, after a phone-call to Dad that a Hammer would come in handy too. We both took either side of the telly, Mum with ‘RAID’ and me with a hammer, spray, bash, spray, bash. Still no look, it made a run for it. Speeding to the other side of the room and getting underneath some draws. This had finally caught the attention of the cat who then started ‘pawing’ the corners, with all 3 of though it still managed to get away diving under the sofa.

Damn. This made things near impossible, we have a pile of washing next to the sofa, and we can only get to the sofa from the front. The mouse by this point was probably under the clothes, Me, Mother and the Cat didn’t have a clue. We then decided to take the clothes out one by one, thus eventually reaching the mouse or at least forcing it out. My mum let out a yelp the mouse falling out a shirt and going straight back down the pile. We sprayed and hammered a little more, then decided to go back to scavenging, we eventually reached the bottom layer, it had to be underneath this. I saw it slide underneath a t-shirt then slowing down, “I see it!”. “Hit it”, I did exactly that, “Hit it again!” So I did so, several times “If you’re under there, you’re dead now!” Just to make sure, I bashed around the rest of the clothes.

I lifted up the t-shirt, wow that’s disgusting. Mashed Vermin.
What’s that you say? You’re sympathising with the mouse? Seriously, that thing took two hours to kill and made me oh so sweaty, I have no sympathy for the thing, and nor should you.

Chris’ Guide #8: 6th Form

We’re the big kids now, like for real.
- Vending Machine: The beacon of hope also has the power to depress you. You’ll come up to the Canteen in the morning and see a packet of Walker’s Sennys (Sensations) and you’ll say to yourself ‘I’ll enjoy those at dinner’. Dinner comes round, and something tragic has happened. A5 is empty. What evil being could take my packet of crisps? That’s why you need to be clever, buy them when you see them, don’t mess around, it’s a dog eat dog world, got the money? Buy two. Loaded? Buy three. Actually, please don’t.

- The Common Room: Honestly, why would you want to spend time in there? For Work? Impossible. To Socialise? Don’t take the piss, you’ve just spent 30 minutes in the canteen you don’t need to socialise. Honestly, I’d consider my lessons to be socialising too, as lame as that may sound.

- The ‘Stat’ Wall:  Step 1: Ignore it. Step 2: Well, that’s it really. I seriously find it pretty ridiculous, I currently stand at 91st, which is fair, top half I guess. But when I see people that are insanely under their targets or over it, then maybe that isn’t the student. When someone is predicted straight Cs then brings out As, that clearly isn’t the student being a sudden genius, but the system is bad.

- The LRC: Want to play games in the LRC? YEAH SURE YOU DO!? Go home. Meh, what annoys me even more is being kicked out for people in cover lessons, what’s with that? Nay Cool.

Err yeah, I don’t really have any. Some of you will glad to know I’ve started writing new Useless scripts, here’s hoping. I’ll try to get some videos out over the holidays, or at least a blog or two.

Anyway, that’s actually about it for this ‘blog’, don’t worry it’s not ending there. I’ve got something to show you
For those who follow me well, you’ll know I planned a new series for my YT channel. The series is called Useless, its yet another idea I’ve had which has been scrapped, but this is the only one which ever actually felt like it was going somewhere. It’s also my first ever script, I’d say its hard to judge how good my scriptwriting is, seen as its never actually going to be used. I was fairly happy with it too, its not quite a video, but I hope you still get a snigger, or at the least a smile out of it

Before you delve in, let me give you a little backstory. It’s based a few years in the future, on Me, Phill, John and Glenn. References to our real lives are used throughout, so if you don’t know us, this won’t even be slightly humorous. Its fairly short, and probably wouldn’t use more than 4 minutes of footage, I was planning to use it as a pilot.

Scene 1

The set is professional, dark interviewing room. A desk lamp shines of Phill’s face that faces the camera.
Interviewer: So, a decent set of A-Levels here, what makes you want to shelf stack at Morrisons?
Phill: It’s my dream job; I’ve always wanted to work here.
Interviewer: I don’t appreciate sarcasm Mr. Gibbins. I don’t like your attitude one bit, you shall never work at Morrisons.
*Phill screams and scene blurs out to the 4 in bed, Phill jolts up*
The bedroom is dark and dingy, clothes are all over the furniture.
Phill: God, I had that dream again!
John: (Mumbling) No-one cares go back to sleep.
Phill: Once I’m awake I can’t get back to sleep, I’m off for breakfast.
John: It’s 5 in the morning.
Phill: (Ignoring John) Glenn, Chris either of you want to get up?
Glenn: Sure, in the army we got up much earlier than this, I can handle anything!
John: Glenn. You were in the army for 2 Months, it counts as nothing, other than you’re useless, now shut up.
Phill: Chris? Food?
Chris: Usually I’d embrace the offer, but I’m trying to get some sleep. Now, leave me alone virgin.
Phill: Are you seriously still calling me that? I wouldn’t exactly be proud of your history.
*Chris swings a lazy arm, Phill avoids and gets out of bed quickly followed by Glenn*
Chris: Spooning?
John: No. Shut the hell up.
Chris: Your loss.
*Intro kicks in*

Scene 2

Beginning in the kitchen/dining area, the camera starts by zooming out from a clock, it’s now half 5.Phill and Glenn are eating breakfast.
Glenn: Are you seriously still eating cereal dry?
Phill: Yeah, I don’t want soggy cereal.
*Chris enters, wearing a spooning t-shirt with various stains on it and some boxers*
Chris: Morning kids.
*Chris scratches his genitals and slumps down on a chair*
Phill: How pleasant.
Chris: Hey Phill, fancy setting up Halo?
Phill: Are you really that useless you can’t do it yourself? You’re 21 years old chris a-
Chris: (interrupting) Actually, I’m 20.
Phill: Shut up! Get yourself washed, Jesus, you stink! When was the last time you left the house anyways?
Chris: September?
Phill: Which year, Chris?
Chris: Last year.
Phill: So, you haven’t left the house in over 13 months? Do you seriously think you can live here forever playing on your Xbox and eating crap all the time? In case you haven’t noticed we’re all moving on, you’re going to be left behind Chris.
Chris: Moving on? When’s this happening? Face it Phill, you’re just a useless as I am.
*An awkward silence falls over the trio*
Glenn: Sooo, what’re we doing for John’s 21st?
Phill: Nothing.
Chris: Nothing?
Phill: Yes, nothing. We don’t have any money, or have you not noticed behind that fat belly of yours?
*Phill storms out*
Chris: I’m not fa-
Glenn: Come on now Chris, don’t kid yourself.

Scene 3

All four characters are sat playing on the Xbox in the lounge.
Chris: Behind You. Glenn, behind you. BEHIND YOU! Dammit, I died.
*All characters occasionally take a gulp out a can of beer/cider/bitter*
John: Argh, it’s noon already!
Chris: Yeah, so what?
John: That speed dating thing, come on Phill.
Glenn: There’s an app for that.
John: For speed dating?
Glenn: There’s an app for just about anything o-
John: Shut up.
*John and Phill leave urgently, leaving Glenn and Chris on the Xbox*
- Both characters stay silent until Chris is shocked letting out a huge yelp -

Before the scene begins john and phill are shown walking through a gate with the sign ‘Speed Dating @ Noon’
*Speed dating works as follows. The camera faces directly towards Phill and John’s faces as if they’re talking to the woman opposite, they share a mini speech, each saying one line, the background changes slightly, giving the impression that the pair are moving around a room as in speed dating, when the girls start speaking the reaction of Phill and John is shown on camera.*

John: Well, I’m nearly 21.
Phill: I live with 3 of my mates.
John: (Chuckles awkwardly) I don’t have a job.
Phill: But I am looking for one.
John: I err don’t do much in my spare time.
Phill: I like to spend time with the people I care about. Well, I mean I share a bed with 3 other guys.
John: Shame they’re all idiots right? (Another awkward laugh)
Phill: I’ll be honest with you.
John: I haven’t done anything interesting in my life.
Phill: So, interested?
Girl 1: Not really, you’re disgusting.
Girl 2: Please don’t ever speak to me again.
Girl 3: So really, you’re just useless?
Girl 4: When was the last time you had a wash?
Girl 5: Okay, I’ll be honest with you; you need to sort your life out.
Scene cuts to both of them walking out the gate.
Phill: So how did that go for you?
John: (Sarcastically) Oh just great.

*Both Phill and John return to the flat, john heads towards the lounge while Phill picks up the post. Upon entering the lounge you can see Chris on the computer, Ben Innes as his background and Glenn is eating dry pot noodle*

Glenn: Oh Hey Guys! How was speed dating?
John: Let’s not talk about it.
Phill: Guys, have you seen this? (Holding up a letter)
John: What is it?
Phill: It’s from our landlord, we need to start paying our rent or we’re out by the end of the month.
John and Chris look a little shocked, Glenn s more interested in his Pot Noodle.
Phill: Glenn, what the hell are you doing?
Glenn: What does it look like?
Phill: It looks like you’re eating pot noodle without adding water.
Glenn: Water?
*Glenn spits out the dry noodle into the pot*
Chris: How do you manage to get that wrong? Useless.

It’s odd that showing you the first script/episode, its actually the last you’ll ever see of it, unless you can manage to persuade Phill to get involved, he doesn’t want to at the moment. I likes writing the script, I’d still like to do the series, I starting to build up themes and vaguely some story here, it seems a shame it’s going to go to waste.

Possibly the biggest news of 2009 is that of Barack Obama, the first black president of the USA.

Lol.

Swine Flu was possible the biggest letdown of the year, tons of hype, bu tlets face it nothing spectacular happened unlike when it last cropped up in 1918 (Killing 2.5% of the world’s population) rather than this time round, only killing 0.026%, though I guess that figure is rising, or is it? Surely the population is rising faster than swine flu deaths, maybe the figure is going down?

I guess a piece of news that doesn’t seem much now but might later is that of north korea, you know, the crazy guys? After more nuclear tests this year, I think ’09 will be looked at as the year we should’ve done something about those crazy guys, rather than just saying “No please don’t”.

Film
In my opinion a quiet year for film, then again the two biggest (Avatar and Sherlock Holmes) are yet to be released. Looking at the top 5 films of the year (in terms of profits)
- Harry Potter 6
- Ice Age 3
- Transformers 2
- Up
- 2012

Looking at those being our top 5, it seems quite a bad year for film. Maybe next will be better, Toy Story 3, Iron Man 2 and Harry Potter 7 (Part One) leading the way. Here’s hoping.

Tech
The iPhone 3GS was released this year, giving people the features they wanted years ago, hoorah!

theTechLife got upgraded to 2.0, fantastic stuff. EDIT: Make that 2.49

Twitter is the fastest growing website accross the world, with a whopping growth of 1382% though only 40% of those members actually still hang around.

Spotify opened for anyone in the UK in Febuary 2009, releasing juices of epic to everyone’s computer.

Of course, the biggest news of all is the release of Modern Warfare 2, seeling an amazing 4.7 million in the first day. Also, another lovely little stat is that it gathered 8 million people online in the first 5 days, compparing that to the real armies of the world, that’s the biggest army in the world, even more surprising is that it’s more than the others in the top 5 armies combined, that’s a lot of virtual killing. Expect this to be game of the year.

The only real hardware release was the DSi, nothing special the lack of a GBA slot makes my weep a little.

So yeah, you get the jist, that should take me right up to christmas, hoorah! Anyway, on with the blog.

2009 has be awesome, it had a lot to live up to, I’d enjoyed 2008, going to Paris was the best weekend of my life and I wasn’t expecting much from ’09. My GCSEs coming up and hoping into the world of 6th form was not welcome, I hate growing up.

At the start of the year I was a potwasher at Fox and Coney in South Cave, it was okay, the people were alright and the pay was rather poor but atleast I was working. I was also with a great bunch of friends, 6 of us, all extremely cool. I wasn’t sure what to expect in regards to my love life, I feared the worst, I’d just come out of a fail relationship a few months back and I wasn’t so optomisitc.

So the start of the year was slow, Valentine’s day sucked and food coursework was beginning to take over my life. I then decided to take up Vlogging,  I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’d posted up a ‘preview’ video, it was me just being wierd infront of the camera, i linked to a few mates and it took off, well by ‘took off’ I mean it got 30 views in under half an hour. The next day, people were confused and freaked out by me, I took the video down. However I still was ‘inspired’ by the popularity my oddness had gained. With that I made my first ‘vlog’ it accompanied my blog, basically mocking myself a little. I then ‘vlogged’, that sucked.

back to my personal life and things kinda sucked, I was doing bad in loads of my subjects and getting greif and both school and home. Things then sucked even more, I was no longer working meaning I was skint. Alas, things went on the up. Chris v Phill was loved by all and 24 was soon to follow. Then it was the turn of the race to hull, my most hyped video ever. I loved the hype and I secretly loved people pestering me to find out whose won.

Exams then came up, French speaking was first and I have to say that was the most nervewracking thing on my life. The rest of the exams were okay. I’m not really ordering this through time, but I know it was around this time when I got myself involve with a new bunch of people. You guys know who you are, and you all rock <3 I also made my obsession for spooning rather public, super cool.

Then I guess we’re pretty much up to date, my grades were average, I’m back on YT, I’m back blogging and I have friends. I’ve also got a new job, but I don’t like it PLUS I’m working tonight, so don’t bring it up!

Oh and if 2010 was half as good as this, it’s going to be AWESOME!

So, what did I get for my birthday? I got my grubby paws on the Sony Ericsson Satio, and I’m loving it, my first Sony product since the PS2 and it rocks I also got Assasin’s Creed 2, which is also rocking my socks, 10x better than the first and from Dave I got 1 month subscribtion to Spotify, which now has placed itself on my phone, that’s also amazing! I’d even consider it to be better than the iPod Touch version. I’ll stop bragging now, atleast I’m not slitting my wrists.

Video Plans you ask? Yeah sure, why not. Over the next week expect two, if not tell me off. I’ll be doing a casual vlog then bringing out First Gear ‘Part 3′. Y’know when you get a DVD with 2 discs, the second being filled with worthless trash such as deleated scenes and extended endings, this is what part 3 will act. Sucks I know, I just have tons of footage left over and I don’t really want it to go to waste. dfhkl.i love becky. Yeah that was Becky, she’s a bad person.

Yeah, it’s my birthday today, I’m 17 hoorah!

Today I’m doin a different kind of blog, I’ll be telling you what went on at my party last night, I won’t mention any names and I will miss out some (small) details.

7 was the official start time, though I’d been told some would be coming attwenty to and quarter to. My parents had left at half past so I was eagerly waiting for 10 minutes. It gave me time to plan things out, how to get people to have a good time and not to get in my parent’s bad book. Time swung by and 15 minutes to 7 no-one had turned up. Then it hit me, what if no-one turns up? What if tthink its tomorrow? What if none of them can find the house? My fears were cured when the first guest arrived, wo were closely followed by others, making it about 8 people.

Everything was going well so far, yeah people were late, but I expected that and didn’t mind. It wasn’t long until most of us were here, all sat down in the living room listening to full blast music out the kitchen. I had told my guests no alcohol will be provided, it was my brillinat plan as this forced people to bring their own, I hated it when ople turned up from parties expecting to e supplied with continuuous alcohol. I’ve been to parties of 20 people where I’ve been one of 2 or 3 to bring their own alcohol even when they’ve been told to bring their own.

Everyone seemed content, but that was it, content. Everyone was just sat down chatting, Iunderstand it takes an hour or so for a party to kick off but this had been nearly 2 now. I was worried, was it going to be like this all night? A few guests even joked around at how ‘exciting’ the party was. The good thing was, i was having a good time and it was my birthday, so that’s what counts, right? Little did I know that soon, that was about to be the opposite.

The last of the guests arrived, then it happened, as if by some wierd magic the party switched from first gear (lol) to fifth gear and what better song to do it to than ‘Queen – Don’t stop me now’. The living room looked a little empty, I heade on upstairs, “What the hells going on?”. Two guests had found themselves to the 360 and being such lovely guys had killed my team-mates. “Get off, get out. Seriously uncool?” I returned downstairs, “Chris, have you seen your Facebook?” I dashed back upstairs only to see various comments on my status, so thanks guys.

Then things went down the road I really didn’t want it to, “Sorry mate, I spilt a beer.” “You bloody idiot.” I cleaned it up with 1001 stains, that actually sorted it uite well, this would be my best friend for the night. Cans were being placed on small tables, I moved them in the kitchen, if they were gonna spill the laminate flooring would be better than the carpet. “Chris, another spill” this went on for a while, it got rather silly. I decided to remove the source of the problem, so I moved the small tables to the kitchen.

I stopped the music, “Guys, please be careful, I don’t want any more spills, k?” They all seemed to agree, but its not as if they were doing it on purpose. I decided retreating to my bedroom would be a good idea to calm down. The music was so loud and wherever I went guests seem to follow. I went back downstairs only to notice some pink stain the middle of the carpet. “What the hell is this?” i got told it was dettol, the stuff which is used to clean surfaces, not carpets. I also realised, I didn;t have time to take a break, as I got to work with my mousse once more.

The pink crap wasn’t going. I stood in the kitchen for a while, then decided to chill in the garden. Guests again followed. One sat with me on the bench, “You alright mate?” “Yeah I’m good, just tired of people spilling stuff.” and with that he knocked over a candle whch was full of rain water, “How do you spill candle, really?”

People were kinda surprised to see my angry side, they just found it humourous, which was good. The night then kinda flowed out, a lot of people helped out after I shouted without the music again. People started leaving, I thanked them for coming, they consoled me for a little. Everyone had realised I had a hard time, or that I had just made a mountain out of a molehill. Then I started to panic, the house wasn’t ‘trashed’ it was just dirty, like really dirty. replied to my dad’s text, and I wasn’t going to lie to him, things weren’t perfect. The foam had ran out and people were still spilling stuff. Everyone left, and I just sat down for a little. I’d never truely realised how hard it was do host a house party, I truely do honour anyone that does.

The morning after, which was my birthday (i.e. today). I realised it might not have been as bad as I first thought okay it wasn’t clean the stupid pink stain was still thetre and always will be but it felt better than the night before. I also realised I’d hat alot of fun too, it wasn’t all cleaning up and depression, the minutes I did have to ‘relax’ were awesome, like really awesome.

Oh and to those I didn’t invite, i don’t hate yo. So please, don’t hate me.

Also thanks to my parents for letting this chaos loose.

Hey Chris fans! Sorry for the lack of posts, I realize that might upset some of you. I haven’t really made myself the time for rabid blogs, alas here I am! I’m doing this off my iPod, so no images today. I posted a new video ‘Summer of ’09′ give it a google!

Not sure if I mentioned it in an earlier blog, but I’m back on Daily Booth, I’m extremely addicted and taking pictures daily (obvs), the username is ReadySaltedChris give me a look, and more importantly make an account! Please.

That was the original Blog #42, which got removed by David. But don’t worry all your cotten socks. Chris has landed once more.

I went to see Harry Potter on Wednesday, that was pretty grufty. I quite enjoyed it, the lack of Voldermort upset me a little, but apart from that it was a good film. To be honest though, I still fail to have seen a film that has impressed me, last year Dark Knight and James Bond were fantastic!

For those who know me quite well you’ll know I’m currently writng a story/novel/piece of turd and after getting ‘Writer’s Block’ aka cba with life, I managed to get back to writng today, hoorah! Those interested in the story, I’ll be releasing it in 3 parts, each a set of 5 chapters. Just because it will probably be a while until I finish and I want to hear from you guys ^.^
