Fail of the Day!
This cracks me up…
About Me (the truths are finally reveiled)
- You may have noticed over the past 20 blogs that I am a computer geek. I admit to it, and personally, I think it’s cool.
- I have a huge head.
- I recently “quit” my Xbox for my Laptop. (says Nez, Phil and other Xbox hardcore gamers
ahaha) - I bike and Squash regularly. Check out my new Mountain Biking Website (under construction) here.
- I’m obsessed with my website. There I’ve said it.
- Because I’m so cool I’ve been playing around with Virtual Machines (computer in a computer). Click here for a tutorial on how to do it.
- I installed Windows 7 yesterday, and then installed it again this morning on a 3rd parti…. (that’s where your brain would turn off.)
- And that’s my whole life.
Wallpapers
I recently managed to get hold of the new Windows 7 Beta Build 7068 Wallpapers. Personally I think they are quite good, check them out here:

Reviews
Windows Media Player vs iTunes
(David’s noob and very quick review)
Windows Media Player 11
All the photos and text taken from microsofts Website. (download here)

Design
Windows media player 11 is the nicest looking of the 3 in my opinion. It’s stylish and clean look beats iTunes grey “windows 95” style.
Streamlining and shortcuts
To simplify the Windows Media Player interface the options are accessible by right-clicking anywhere on the Player’s frame.

Fast access to settings
Right-click or click the down arrow that is assigned to each activity tab (Now Playing, Library, Rip, Burn, and Sync) to reveal menu options that are relevant to each respective tab. This new feature offers quick access to the most common Player settings.
Universal back and forward buttons

Cool Looking playback controls and Status area

Pros: Nice to look at, easy access to music, photos and video. And easy Artists Songs etc menus, easy to get album artwork and song titles
Cons: No free streaming music, no iPod Streaming
Overall 8.5/10
iTunes
All the text and photos are taken from Apple – Download iTunes free (here)
“iTunes is a free application for Mac and PC. It plays all your digital music and video. It syncs content to your iPod, iPhone, and Apple TV. And it’s an entertainment superstore that stays open 24/7.” – Apple
Entertainment made easy.
iTunes puts your entire music and video (only mp4 and .mov…) collection into easy to use folders. Giving you an all-access pass to thousands of hours of digital entertainment. Made available for Mac and PC.
Design
Very simple, effective but not very stylish. Has a “Windows 95” feel in my opinion.
You can view your library by artist, album, episode, year, rating.
Organize.
Turn CDs into digital music by importing them to iTunes. Organize your entire collection with custom playlists.
Play.
Listen to music from other computers on your network. – really good feature.
Has usual Play and Pause buttons. More simple than Windows media player

iTunes Store
Visit the iTunes Store and discover what makes it the world’s #1 online music store. Browse over 8 million £0.79 songs. Get customized recommendations from the Genius sidebar.

iPod and iPhone
Transfer media and more from your computer to your iPod or iPhone. One of the only programs which allows you to do this.
Pros: Simple to use, nice iTunes store, easy access to music, and video. And easy Artists Songs etc menus
Cons: No free streaming music, not particularly nice to look at, small amount of video features. Hard to get album artwork and song titles (from unrecognized albums, and transferred albums)
Overall 9/10
iTunes wins as it can sync to my iPod!

News of the Day
Lucky for you guys, Matty wrote my news of the day today! Enjoy!
Matty’s Blog Number 2 (April 5th) Day 40
Number 2!!!! As Dave has nagged me for the whole of the 40 days to do a blog, (as a Sunday blogger) I decided I would actually bother today as a break from typing up all my French. I know I blogged on my birthday and actually broke the rules, so this is kind of amends for that. Anyway I have nothing really to say so here goes (If this actually works I might do a best of the news for Dave in the summer):
I’m going to give you an intro to the stories and a link, sorry if I get anything wrong or insult anyone unintentionally.
Big World News
N.Korea missile launch causes outrage:
There was a missile launch today by North Korea and it was to launch a satellite into orbit. However, South Korea and Japan say the launch is a disguised test of the long-range Taepodong-2 missile, which is designed to carry a warhead capable of reaching U.S. territory.
They were warned not to fire it and told if they did it would be a provocative act against the UN. The US initially said they’d shoot it down, but North Korea said this would be an act of war. The UN has joined to discuss the issue.
(here)
Barack Obama’s new offensive against nuclear weapons
Obama Has now called for the world to be ridded of Nuclear weapons, except for the bare minimum to maintain sufficient defence of the US. He has called upon Russia and other strong nuclear forces for a gradual decrease of arms to reduce the risk of cold war scenarios and to stop countries such as North Korea from utilising them to gain power. Also the more Nuclear weapons there are increases the risk of extreme terrorism which Obama clearly doesn’t want nor any other world power.

More Barack
Just some quick news on Barack Obama, and his embarrassment to give a quick polite kiss to the French president’s wife and a kiss instead of a handshake. (Just some lighter news)

Work and School
Distracted? Self Control Now Available as an OS X App
One of the greatest apps I’ve ever seen the self control app blocks your distracting websites for however long you want to work stopping you checking Facebook every 5 mins when you’re bored whilst working. But its only for Mac at the moment but I guess there’ll be more out there I just haven’t looked!

New South Hunsley VLE!
Not really very exciting but you can access your school files anywhere in the world (might be useful who knows).
Health
Random
- Thief nabbed with 68 tubes of toothpaste: (No need for an introduction just what it says on the tin.) (here)
- French pole vaulter runs naked through Paris:
An athlete that lost his sponsor in this financial climate takes drastic steps to raise awareness for his case. (here)
- Finalists named for “best job in the world”
If you didn’t hear about this its basically what it says (the best job in the world): -high pay –short hours –Get to live on a tropical island –Only have to blog/webcam once a week – Relaxing –Stress-free – Don’t really do much. – And much more (look it up). Anyway they’ve nearly decided who and this is a article about that (here)
Baby Mix-Up Mums Forced To Swap Toddler Sons
Crazy stuff (in the words of Dave): (here)
Ross and Brand Palava
The BBC has recently been fined £150,000 by Ofcom for the Sach’s phone prank, which was almost definitely blown out of proportion (no offence anyone) but they went too far and paid the price. A minister said they should pay not the BBC, however Ofcom have said this would mean and change in the law and it was against the BBC as a whole not the individuals as they are not entirely responsible. In my opinion Brand should come back but hey we can’t have it all!
Here are 3 links for this story one for the minister, one for Ofcom and one for the story:

I thought I’d finish off with the Best of YouTube Guitar/music:
Please Note: This is personal Opinion and found in a day, so please tell me if I’ve missed any in the comment section provided
32 Songs in 8 Minutes (found this earlier today and this guy is amazing (firstly at guitar (very smooth throughout and some difficult stuff in there) and secondly at his genius of making this (song writing skills)) It’s basically a compilation of 32 modern songs linked together cleverly.
Four hands: This is impressive guitar playing by 2 guys (ones bass) and they play the same guitar avoiding each other’s hands to make a awesome tune:
Claude Françoise, Belles Belles Belles: A bit of classic French music for you all, Watch out for his funky dancing:
Bumble: This guy has a lot of spare time clearly but his videos are really good and this must have taken at least a day to film let alone edit. Check out the rest of his videos if you have time:
Mother of All Funk Chords: Just a great compilation of music on YouTube this guy has edited it to give respect to all artists and make a great funk song:
Let them eat cake – Very random person and song just thought it was quite good:
Vicente Amigo: One of my heroes of guitar found him whilst searching for flamenco guitar to play and he is insane on guitar.
Smells like teen spirit Cover: (3 mins in is something special) An amazing guitarist who has covered a classic song and made it his own.
Wind Waker: More from the genius behind 32 songs I decided this deserved a mention too, made me want to get out the N64 and play Zelda again!
There was an amazing loop video but I’ve lost it, sorry.
Deep Videos:
If the world were only 100 people: If we kept the same proportions but the world only had 100 people this is what it would be like, some shocking facts:
Instruction manual: A deep video on Religion (if your easily offended, avoid)
Just For Fun
Extreme Sheep LED art: Something to lighten the mood, this is amazing!
That’ll be all for me,
- Matty
