David’s Weekly Blog #1 – Twilight, Films and Over obsessive eating..
You may have missed me, but I’m back..
After spending the past 2 days in York I’ve been unable to write my blog. Unfortunatly they don’t have broadband access. This meant I spent a large amount of my time reading. More about that later.
You all know it’s the Easter Holidays. During which Year 11s are supposed to be revising for their GCSE’s.
I’ve been very busy, I’ve been out on numerous bike rides (read them all here), been to lots of sleepovers, and more importantly revising watching films.
During the past 2-3 weeks I’ve seen a whopping 10 films:
In the Cinema:
- Gran Torino
- Knowing
- The Boat That Rocked
- Marley and me
On DVD:
- Wild Child
- Angus Thongs and perfect Snogging
- Jumper
- Twilight (and the commentary version the next day…)
- Superbad
- The Strangers (omg the scariest film created)
Check out theTechLife.co.uk/films for reviews of the films shortly!
Twilight
Well, it was about 6months ago (just before the release of the film) that all the girls (and boys) were going crazy about the Twilight Books. I never really took interest. A story on Vampires didn’t really strike me as an enthralling read (how wrong I was).
Last Monday the film came out on DVD, I hadn’t read the book, or seen the film at the cinemas so I didn’t care at all. My sister (and plenty of other fans) went crazy for the release and bought the copy on the day of launch. My sister watched it twice that night (i know how weird..) once normally and then once with the commentary. She then went to watch it a further 3 times (5 in total!) during the next 6 days. < That has to be a record right?!
Later during the week she finally persuaded me to watch it. I really expected nothing at all. This was probably why I thought it was amazing.
The film was very interesting throughout. Even the storyline about “Vampires” was interesting. More importantly though, I did think the main actress was rather hot…
Overall I would give the film 8.9/10. (I give Robbert Pattision credit for having to put an American accent throughout the whole film!)
I really suggest you watch it!
I would just like to say (before I read the book) that the film was good. No matter what all the hardcore fans say about how it was disappointing and not as good as the book.
Being sad (like my sister) I watched the commentary afterwards (where the 2 main actresses and director speak about the filming and stuff whilst the film is playing) that was also very interesting. I’ve also just started to read the book. (Big mistake). I could end up reading more than I’m on my laptop. And you don’t want to know how long that is.
I think at the end of the day, I’ve turned into a Twilight fan. Bring on November 09
